Kingfisher Hour.
Well i had an hour out with the camera on sat afternoon. So thought i'd go sit in the shade by a river somewhere. It was a stretch of the Monnow just over the Herefordsire border in Gwent. I went this way first thinking if there was too many about i'd go back along to the next point which would have been in Herefordshire. But just by luck it was quiet about, but i spyed a family of Kingfishers together still learning to hunt. So i thought it was worth having a sit under the shade of the sally trees just to see if they came to the usual spot that i had caught a breif glance of them before. But i didn't think that they really would come as i had gone out in a hurry with no camoflage on, lol. Various birds were flying by and i thought um i could do with eye's in the back of my head. I had plonked myself in a sandy bit of bank surrounded by nettles and balsam facing up stream. Then thought i'd best get bins out an check downstream an a recently collapsed sally tree was just around the corner so i repositioned myself just ten feet looking downstream. I didn't get the whole family but one kept coming up to the shallows. So i started with my sigma 500mm lens an just kept clicking untill the Kingfisher flew off at 50mph. As it had gone i put bros bigger lens on and yes kingfishers came back with very nice sitings. So until i'd got back to the computer i didn't know if i'd got anything any good. But the shots are my best so far and will keep trying.
